About

Welcome to our blog! We are a husband and wife team who had a son 9 years ago. Hence, Cook (our last name) and Kid. We live in Atlanta, love food, learning about food, cooking, eating, and exploring other cultures through food.

When we started this blog, we had a crazy amount of student loan debt. Technically speaking it was all mine, Dominique. We committed to Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps and that meant cutting back expenses in order to find more money to get rid of the debt. With that came, no longer eating out. Pretty much all of our meals were prepared at home. This blog was a way for us to keep having those same experiences we would have at restaurants and a way to keep learning about food and sharing what we were learning.

I am happy to report that in two years we have paid off all of my student loan debt. This experience has forever changed our lives and how we view eating out. We are much more picky about who gets our money now! Read more about our journey here.

This blog also continues because we believe food unites us and our love for other cultures is something that has bonded Phillip and I over the years. This space is a way to share that love. It is our our goal to get people out of their comfort zones and cooking with ingredients they wouldn’t normally use. There is no better way to get to know another culture than by cooking the food that speaks to their heart.

  • Hi guys! Thanks for the kind comment on my site. I'm in LOVE with your photography and just saw squash blossoms at my local farmer's market last week, so I may have to go again and see if I can pick some up so I can try the recipe you posted!

    • Glad you like it. Thanks for the compliment. You should try the blossoms they are very good.
